ADR Training - Petroleum Products - Initial: the program
Objectives :
Meet the regulatory obligations of ADR §8.2 - Road drivers of dangerous goods
Obtain the ADR Certificate including the Petroleum Products Specialization
Be able to transport hydrocarbons in tank trucks
BVT teaching methods:
#1 A multimedia animation
#2 An individual trainee booklet
#3 Written and/or oral application exercises, both individual and collective
#4 Intermediate assessments of knowledge acquisition in the form of MCQs

What is the
ADR Petroleum Products?
This specialization is permitted as long as the truck driver holds a valid Basic ADR Certificate. This is a "restricted" tanker specialization, since it only allows the transport of petroleum products by tanker truck. It supplements basic ADR training, and mainly concerns carriers of petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, etc.). This specialization is governed by Article 4 of the TDG Order and Chapter 8.2 of the ADR Regulations. If they pass the final examination, truck drivers will be awarded an ADR Certificate with a Petroleum Products Specialization endorsement.
As with Basic ADR Training, knowledge is refreshed every 5 years.
How to finance training
ADR Petroleum Products?
Throughout your working life, you accumulate training rights that can be used at any time in your career, regardless of your sector of activity: these funds are stored in your Personal Training Account. You can contribute between €5,000 and €8,000 (for the least qualified and/or disabled) depending on your profile, and this fund is regenerated every year if you have not reached this ceiling.
BVT enables you to finance your ADR - Transport de Marchandises Dangereuses - training courses by mobilizing the funds accumulated on your CPF. Of course, other sources of funding remain possible: Pôle Emploi, your employer...

How long does ADR Petroleum Tanker training last?
ADR regulations concerning the duration of ADR training courses for the transport of petroleum products in tanks differ according to the format:
- initial training lasts 2 days- refresher training lasts 1 day

How much does ADR Petroleum Tanker training cost?
The prices of our ADR - Petroleum Tanker Specialization training courses vary according to the format of the session. An initial training course lasting 2 days is priced differently from a refresher course lasting just one day.

Who needs to be trained in ADR - Petroleum Products Specialization?
Anyone driving a tank vehicle containing petroleum products must hold a valid ADR Basic Certificate with petroleum specialization (or extended). To do so, candidates must pass the final exam.

What training do I need to drive an oil tanker?
In order to drive a tank vehicle carrying petroleum products, the driver must hold a valid ADR Basic Certificate with a valid petroleum products specialization.
As a guide, these certificates (Basic and Specialization) are both valid for 5 years, provided the Basic Certificate is valid.

How does the ADR - Petroleum Products Specialization final exam work?
Like the ADR Basic course, our ADR Initial and Refresher Petroleum Tanker courses include a final exam. This exam takes the form of a multiple-choice test only, with no practical exercises or case studies. Successful completion of this exam leads to the ADR Certificate with petroleum tank specialization.
